The RESULTS of the selection of applications for Energy Best Practices Area (eBPa) of the International Specialized Exhibition Astana EXPO-2017

Dear friends!

After the kick-off/inaugural meeting of eBPa International Selection Committee (the ISC) on December 10, 2015 in Paris, France, the call for applications was officially announced on February 2, 2016.

Before the deadline on July 31, 2016, the ISC Secretariat has accepted 133 applications from 30 countries. The ISC Secretariat checked all the received applications against formal requirements for participation in the eBPa and forwarded the conforming ones for further review by the Working group.

The Working group was comprised of 13 independent international energy experts who were suggested by the International Science and Technology Center (ISTC). The experts of the Working group provided their evaluation based on 4 criteria according to the eBPa participation guidelines and project selection procedures. Each application was evaluated by 3 experts.

After the review by the Working group, a total number of 64 applications which have passed the 60% (3 out of 5 score) threshold were presented to the ISC members.

On September 15, 2016 the final meeting of the International Selection Committee (ISC) was held in the headquarters of Astana EXPO 2017 National Company to decide on the list of finalists for eBPa pavilion.

The ISC members agreed that selected entries should represent a broad geographic distribution, diversity of thematic areas, as well as of technical solutions.

Following a lengthy discussion, the ISC decided on the final list of 17 candidate applications and a list of 5 associated1 applications* for the eBPa pavilion as follows:

* Due to the lack of application in some of the themes of the eBPa pavilion (e.g. transport, concentrated solar power (CSP), carbon capture and storage (CCS), nuclear solutions, etc.), as well as taking into consideration possible budget constraints and difficulties in further technical negotiations with the selected applicants, the Organizer of the Exhibition “Astana EXPO-2017" NC” JSC reserves the right to continue searching for and negotiating with the companies and organizations whose projects would be worthy of exhibiting in eBPa pavilion.

Further work and negotiations with the finalists will be held by the Organizer of the Exhibition, “Astana EXPO-2017” NC” JSC using the contact information indicated in the applications.

We congratulate finalists and encourage the applicants which did not appear in the list above to apply for exhibiting in national pavilions of their countries or corporate pavilion!

For more information on exhibiting in corporate pavilion of International Specialized Exhibition Astana EXPO-2017, please, contact the Content and events organization department using the following contact information: tel.: +77172938808 email: r.khamitov@expo2017astana.com.
